(The following comes from Rusty Faircloth, president of the Mountain Home, ID, ATV Club)
The article (link below) in the Idaho Mountain Express is a great article and it is in support of ATVs, unlike a lot of articles that we see today. It is obvious that the mayors of Bellevue, Hailey and Ketchum see the economic impact that ATVs have on their communities and they welcome us with open arms.
The Mayor of Ketchum summed it up best in the article, "If there's not a problem, I don't see a need to go looking for one."
The Ketchum Surveyor Bruce Smith stated he was dismayed by Sun Valley's action and further stated, "I don't think they thought this through."
We need to make sure ATV users know they are welcome in Bellevue, Hailey and Ketchum unlike the snub we get in Sun Valley. Regardless of why you recreate in this area, I feel you should support those towns that support you as an ATV user.
By the way, maybe the next time you go to this area to recreate and you use a business outside of Sun Valley, maybe call the like business in the Sun Valley area and let them know how much money you spent elsewhere and tell them because the mayor and city council passed an ordinance that prohibited you from riding your ATV in Sun Valley as your reason for choosing to spend your hard earned money somewhere else.
