The 2013 American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Mid-America
Cross-Country (MAXC) racing season is set to kick off April 13 at Monster Mountain
in Canaan, IN, just
over an hour from Louisville,
KY. MAXC has co-sanctioned with
Kentucky Cross Country Racing (KCCR) to present a new venue to the ever-growing
KCCR series.
"We are looking forward to KCCR racers joining us this round
and we are sure they will like what Monster
Mountain has to offer,"
said MAXC Race Series owner Mike Gibbs.
MAXC debuted Monster Mountain XC as a new venue in 2012 and
had great feedback on the facility, track layout and racing from both dirtbike
and ATV racers.
This year, Monster Mountain XC will feature an 8-mile course
very similar to last year's. The track will consist of many elevation and
terrain changes in an attempt to make the track fun and challenging. There are
several new hillclimbs and pro line sections that are sure to be exciting for
both racers and spectators. In addition, racers will be navigating down the rocky
creek section in the opposite direction of last year's course. Bike racers last
year stated that Monster Mountain MAXC reminded them of an Endurocross style
race.
Monster
Mountain is a fan
favorite because of its great racing, beautiful landscape and easy to access
parking. A paved driveway leads up to a mountaintop clearing that offers plenty
of mowed grass parking overlooking the treetops of Canaan.
2012 AMA MAXC Monster Mountain XC winners were Chris Bach in
the AA Bike Class and Ryan Lane
in the AA ATV Class.
