Hurricane, UT - The Blingstar- and Polaris- backed UTV team
took on the brutal thirteen-mile track during round four of WORCS at the Sand
Hollow OHV Riding Park in Hurricane, UT. The race was unique from other WORCS
events as it featured an extra-long track and had all the SxSs races at once.
Nick Nelson raced his Blingstar/Polaris RZR XP 900 to a top-ten
finish in the Pro Production SxS class. Nelson started on the front row and quickly
got into a tight battle with another racer. Nelson kept the battle going for
the entire first lap and came through
in seventh, just four seconds out of sixth place. Nelson
pushed hard until the third mile of the second lap, when he had suspension
issues and was forced to back off his pace to keep his RZR together.
"The RZR was working really well," said Nelson. "I enjoyed
the two-lap format; I am really into desert racing and this was a bit similar
to that. I am looking forward to getting my shocks worked out and putting in a
good run at Taft."
Clint Roberts put his #21 Polaris RZR XP 900 through the
paces and gained valuable points in the Pro Production Class. He also started
on the front line, but got off to a rear pack start. After the first turn, Roberts
was sitting in 11th and he instantly started to charge his way over the brutal
whooped-out terrain, fighting his way up to eighth, right behind teammate Nick
Nelson, at the end of lap one. As Roberts pushed over the rough landscape, he got
two flat tires; however, this didn't hinder him as he was running the new DWT
Run Flat Tires.
"The DWT Run Flat Tires worked awesome," said Roberts. "If I
wouldn't have had them, I never would have made it as far as I did. They worked
great and did exactly as they are supposed to."
On lap two, Roberts ran into trouble when he charged through
a rock section and broke a rear axle. The carnage forced him to miss the last
few miles of the race. He finished fourteenth but managed to gain two positions
in the points standings and now sits seventh in overall points.
"My Polaris was working great," said Roberts. "My Blingstar
doors, harnesses, front bumper and roll cage all worked great and kept me safe."
As the WORCS reaches the midway point of the season
the Blingstar Team is planning to come on stronger at each round. Nelson is
currently ranked fourth and Roberts is in seventh in the Pro points standings.
The pair will return in just a few short weeks at WORCS round five in Taft, CA.
The round will be at Honolulu Hills May 10-12.
