Ontario, Calif. - Team ITP side-by-side racers competed in two different series across the country recently and came away with two overall victories and another podium finish, all on ITP Terracross R/T XD tires.
Cody Rahders piloted his ITP-clad side-by-side to the overall win in the Walker Evans Racing RZR class at round five of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Regional Series (LOORRS) in Lake Elsinore, CA. Side-by-side driver Kyle Chaney won the QR1 class at round seven of the Quantum Racing UTV Rally Raid Northern Series at Windrock OHV Park in Oliver Springs, TN.
"I was very pleased with Cody Rahders' overall victory in a very competitive LOORRS class," Pat McGuire, public relations/race support, said. "Blake Malgren also put in a great second-place run in the SR1/UTV class. Kyle Chaney built an impressive lead in the UTVRR Northern Series race and earned another win. All three racers were using our ITP Terracross R/T XD tires, which has proven itself as a very durable and versatile SxS tire."
LOORRS 5
Thirty-three total vehicles entered both classes at round five of Kartek LOORRS at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park in Lake Elsinore, CA. ITP racer Cody Rahders and 13 other drivers made up the Walker Evans RZR class. Rahders, who also competes in the World Off-Road Championship Series for ITP, recorded his first overall win of the season in the No. 716 car. Rahders (UTVUnderground.com/FOX/Magnum Offroad/ITP) completed 12 laps on the Lake Elsinore course in just more than 18 minutes to win his first race of the year. He also posted the fastest lap-a 01:00.766 time-of the race, which came on the final lap. The victory gave Rahders 50 points toward the chance for the class title, which he currently leads by two heading into the next round.
The Weller Racing SR1/Black Rhino/Pilot/Trophy Kart RS450 class featured a deeper field with 19 total riders entered. The No. 888 of Blake Malgren completed all 12 laps and came up less than three seconds shy of the overall win, taking second. He logged a time of 13:03.356, which was aided by his ninth-lap time, which was the third-fastest of the entire race. This was Malgren's best finish of the year and he's currently third in points.
The next round of LOORRS, the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park Regional Series Shootut, is scheduled for Oct. 12 in Southern California.
UTVRR Northern 7
Round seven of the Racer Tech UTV Rally Raid Northern Series, by Quantum Racing, was held at a dusty Windrock OHV Park in Tennessee. UTVRR, which has both a 10-round Northern and 10-round Southern series, features a four-hour event that forces drivers to compete in both daylight and evening hours, requiring the used of off-road lights. Kyle Chaney (JB Off-Road/TurnKey UTV/ITP) won the QR1 class by building a big time advantage. Chaney completed the most laps of any side-by-side during the event and, at one point, had built and impressive 13-minute lead over the eventual runner-up finisher
"My ITP Terracross tires worked very well in the dry, rocky and hardpack terrain at Windrock," said Chaney. "We didn't have any flats and just rode a smart race and built a big lead."
The next round of the UTVRR Northern Series is slated for Oct. 5, at Windrock OHV Park.
