The WORCS season finale ended on a high note for Maxxis. Team H&M/Maxxis rider David Haagsma took the Pro victory at the race and second place in points, while teammate Beau Baron officially won his third Pro championship, a title he had all but wrapped up weeks earlier. WORCS' Round 9 was held Oct. 12-13 in Primm, NV.
Despite a slow start, taking two kicks to crank his quad, Haagsma made quick passes during the first two laps and took the lead in the third, going on to win by a margin of almost two minutes. The victory was his second of the year.
"Everything went great this season," Haagsma told worcsracing.com. "I am trying to figure out next year. I kind of want to go back east and race motocross because that's more of my thing. I enjoy off-road, but I enjoy motocross a lot more and that's where I want to put my focus."
Still recovering from a recently broken collarbone, Baron started the race and rode for a short time in order to earn the five points that would officially seal his Pro championship. Both Baron and Haagsma relied on Razr Xc rear and Razr2 front tires for traction throughout the WORCS season.
The day before, Baron took the SxS Pro Production win and secured the class title, with fellow Maxxis rider Ryan Piplic in second place for the day and also second in class points. And still another Maxxis rider took home a championship last weekend when Grant Mitchell won both the Pro Am race and the class title for the year.
Maxxis congratulates Beau Baron, David Haagsma and Grant Mitchell on their respective victories and championships, and thanks all of its riders for a season of fine performances in the WORCS ATV series.
