Another Successful Race Weekend For Goldspeed Racers

February 2014 Racing

Las Vegas, Nev. - Round two of WORCS racing brought another successful weekend of first place and podium finishes for a host of Goldspeed-backed ATV racers.

Saturday’s Production A race was a replay from round one with Goldspeed’s David Flores and Chandler Waxman taking the top two spots. Flores is defending his title in Production A and both riders are contesting for their first ever Pro-Am championship in Sunday’s main event. Mike Sloan and Cody Mitchell put Goldspeed wheels on the top two podium spots in Open A as well.

Coming off of a 3rd place finish in Taft, Can-Am/Goldspeed racer Dillon Zimmerman was eager to prove that he’s a threat for the podium this year. Zimmerman looked solid throughout the race, fighting his way back from a fourth place start and taking over the second place position on lap seven. For the next three laps, the Goldspeed/JRi Shocks racer put his head down and managed to make up time on the leader every lap. Unfortunately, on lap 10, Zimmerman noticed his left front wheel beginning to wobble. To avoid crashing he was forced to back off in hopes of making it to the pits but the wheel eventually fell completely off, ending his day and chances for a win.

“It was a bummer my wheel bearings went bad and ended my race; I was feeling so great out there,” said Zimmerman after the race. “I know my speed has improved and my bike setup has improved a lot as well thanks to my JRi Shocks.”

It wasn’t all bad news during the main event on Sunday however as Mike Sloan and David Flores would again put Goldspeed Products on the top two steps of the podium. Sloan would earn the holeshot and briefly trade positions with Flores on the truck track before retaking the lead and holding it to the finish.

Flores on the other hand battled seat issues again that almost ended up costing him a position. After stopping multiple times to reinstall the seat, the Goldspeed/JRi Shocks racer decided he had to pin it to the finish whether he lost his seat or not. Flores would hold on to second place which was enough for him to retain his points lead in the class going into round three.

In the amateur ranks, Rick Ellsworth took home top honors again in both the 30+ and 50+ classes with wife Donna besting the rest of the field in the Women’s A race. Rick and Donna are one of several husband/wife duos to compete in the WORCS racing series and arguably one of the most successful.
