We got our first opportunity ever to tour Kawasaki’s manufacturing plant in Lincoln, NE, this week and wow, was that a cool experience. You might remember a column we put in Dirt Toys Magazine a few issues back talking about how we really like to watch powersports vehicles be built.
And we weren’t disappointed on our trip to Kawasaki’s massive manufacturing plant. Our purpose for being in Lincoln was two-fold. One was to tour the plant and the other was to see Kawi’s newest vehicle release. Sorry, can’t tell you yet what the vehicle is but that is coming next week.
Kawasaki’s manufacturing plant in Lincoln has been building powersports vehicles since 1974 and that not only includes ATVs (including the now fairly extinct three-wheelers) and side-by-sides but rail cars.
Along with the tour of the plant we were able to see a showroom that showcases many of the vehicles built in Lincoln over the years.
Kawasaki’s manufacturing plant boasts 2.2 million square feet of manufacturing space, making it the largest manufacturing facility in the state of Nebraska. Kawi fairly recently started allowing people to see their rail cars being built at the same facility in Lincoln. That was really pretty amazing to see that as well.
Here are a few pics from the day’s tour.
