July 2015 Powersport News Web Exclusive

The 2015 version of the Rally in the Pines, held in Mackay, ID, was a huge success, drawing hundreds of machines and people. Riders came from all over the United States, Canada and even Mexico.

There were several ATV/SxS clubs represented at Rally In The Pines this year. Many of them with 20 to 30 members in attendance and some came from as far away as Wisconsin and Texas.

Meg Allen, along with her husband Blake, are the Rally in the Pines organizers and the two who do all the heavy lifting to put the entire event together. She said, “The group rides were fantastic and the motorsports activities were a lot of fun. The Haunted Ghost Town Night Ride was an absolute hit. Everyone loved it. We had five fun stops along the way. Many of the riders were up on the Mine Hill until after midnight. The lights from the machines were beautiful to watch, as the riders streamed down the mountain when they returned to Rally Park.”

The Haunted Ghost Town Night Ride was sponsored by BAM Film & Media Productions, Whip It, Kurt’s Off-Road Polaris, Fireside Enterprises and the City of Mackay.

The Mega Fun Run was also great ride with four stops along the way. It was a giant loop and featured a bratwurst BBQ lunch in a beautiful place called Mammoth Canyon. Amsoil, Dirt Toys Magazine, KYMCO, Camp Chef and ISOTA Off-Road were all sponsors of the Fun Run, with KYMCO and Camp Chef sponsoring the lunch. At one point, at the Dirt Toys stop, the line was about a quarter mile long as riders waited for their cards to be stamped.

Then there was the parade, which was held Friday evening. “The parade was incredibly fun,” Meg Allen said. “There were more than 150 entries and wow were they creative.” There sharks, hula girls, duck blinds, dancing flamingos, pirate ships, Fred & Wilma Flintstone and several more. There was a decent-sized crowd that lined the street to watch the parade.

And, of course, there were the guided rides, which spread out all over the area and mountains surrounding Mackay. Allen said, “We had to close registration early this year because we filled every ride that the Forest Service and BLM had approved for the Rally. I am happy to report that we have already added five new additional rides for 2016. That will allow us to increase our attendance numbers close for 2016.”

The 2015 Rally was sponsored by: WPS, Sedona Tire & Wheel, Fly Racing, KYMCO USA, Altitude Sports & Entertainment Network, State Of Idaho Tourism, Dirt Toys Magazine, Fireside Enterprises/Diamondback Truck Covers, Kurt's Off-Road, ZBROZ Racing, ISOTA Off-Road, Camp Chef, Ryfab, Amsoil, Trail Armor, Bug Buster Windscreens, Rev Arc, Dad's Motorsports, Bosski, Toyskinz, Whip It Light Rods, Stop & Go, KFI Products, Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, SXS Visions and Ryan's Mountain Rentals.

Allen also sent out a big thanks to all the volunteers from the Eagle Rock ATV/SxS Club and the Upper Valley ATV/SxS Club.

The dates for Rally In The Pines in 2016 are July 8-10. General registration will open in December.

We here at Dirt Toys Magazine really enjoyed this year’s event, especially meeting so many new folks. On our guided ride to Wildhorse Canyon, we had riders all the way from Missouri and many points in between. It’s unfortunate that it rained (but hey, no dust to battle) and the clouds hung low over the beautiful mountains but we had a fun 110-mile ride anyway.

And the Mega Fun Run, wow, we had lots of people stop by to get their cards signed off and enter our own little drawing, which was for several prizes. We’d like to thank our sponsors/prize givers: Boondockers, PIND Industries, Western Power Sports/Sedona Tires and UTV Tech.
