Cypress, Calif. – Yamaha Racing’s Chad Wienen once again defended his title at the AMA Pro ATV MX Series Championship with his fourth consecutive title, becoming only the second person in ATV MX history to accomplish this feat and the third in ATV MX history to be named a four-time champion. Yamaha Racing’s Thomas Brown also had another great season finishing third overall and helping Yamaha secure the coveted manufacturers’ cup again for the fourth straight year.
Wienen and Brown dominated aboard their race-proven assembled in USA Yamaha YFZ450R ATVs, capping an impressive run with strong finishes at the 2015 series finale Aug. 8 at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN. Wienen scored 2-1 on the day and finished with 479 points in the championship standings to claim his fourth consecutive Pro title. Brown finished the series with 423 points to secure a third place finish. Rookie of the Year, Nick Gennusa, finished an impressive fifth overall on his GENN USA prepared YFZ450R.
“I am happy and grateful to be racing at this level and thank my team and Yamaha for all of the support again this year,” Wienen said. “We’re enjoying this win with Yamaha and the YFZ450R and already looking forward to next year’s series and a chance to make history with this great team.”
Wienen started riding the YFZ450R in 2012 and has been earning championship titles ever since. This year, he finished first place in five out of ten rounds and second in the events he didn’t win. Brown repeated his success from last year, once again taking third overall. He finished first in Round Five of the series, and never below fourth overall in any of the events.
“Chad and Thomas have had proven success with their YFZ450Rs, placing them at the top of ATV MX racing,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha ATV/SxS group marketing manager. “Yamaha is extremely proud to be a part of their success on and off the track. These guys are truly making history for themselves, for the sport, and for Yamaha.”
