Driving two different 2016 Polaris off-road vehicles on Tennessee’s Brimstone Recreation Area trail system was awesome sauce today. Our focus today was on the RZR S 1000 in the morning and the Ace 900 SP this afternoon.
Both machines are basically the same as their predecessors other than larger engines with more power. Brimstone was a good place to test that upgrade in power and we didn’t go easy on either vehicle.
We still like the RZR package that we have come to know over the years and had high expectations of the vehicle at Brimstone from the ride to engine performance. The vehicle didn’t disappoint. The bigger 1000cc powerplant had the grunt to pull us through a couple of wet and muddy situations that would have otherwise necessitated a little winching action.
The Ace feels and drives like a different buggy with the 900, bringing it up to well above an entry level machine for seasoned drivers interested in this platform. It is quite fun to drive with this kind of power at your disposal yet requires more attention and “throttle sense” in challenging conditions.
Stay tuned for more.
