Mother Nature Was Serious This Past Winter

June 2019 Feature

We have documented over the past few weeks about our (attempted) side-by-side rides in the mountains of the West and how, on nearly every occasion, we have been turned back by snow.

Certainly last winter’s deep snows would have melted by Memorial Day weekend. With that thought in mind, we headed to the Pioneer Mountains of southwest Montana, near the small town of Polaris in the verdant Grasshopper Valley.

Yea, not so much. It was plenty rainy and we can deal with that but it was the snow that we mostly battled with. The snowline was still fairly low but we went out looking for open (and dry ish) trails anyway.

We’ll keep trying.
