Houston – Polaris RANGER, the industry’s No.1-selling utility side-by-side vehicle, has deployed all-new RANGER 1000 vehicles to support Jefferson County Emergency Management and the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office in its recovery efforts following the historic flooding in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Imelda.
Jefferson County Emergency Management and Chambers County Sheriff’s Office will use the RANGER 1000 vehicles to access remote areas, transport supplies and help local citizens affected by Storm Imelda.
“These storms make national news and then most of America goes about their normal lives, while we deploy significant resources to assist in the recovery efforts, “ said Coordinator of the Jefferson County Emergency Management Office Michael White. “The Polaris RANGER vehicles are uniquely capable of reaching remote areas that are in critical need of assistance. We are deeply thankful for Polaris RANGER in helping in aiding the citizens of Jefferson County.”
Tropical Storm Imelda triggered dangerous flooding forcing the rescue or evacuation of at least 6,000 citizens. The quickly developing storm dumped as much as 40 inches of rain in some parts of the Lone Star State, causing government officials to declare a state of emergency for much of southeastern Texas and encouraging residents to seek higher ground immediately.
“Imelda has devastated the eastern half of Chambers County, a largely rural area, where the rugged terrain makes transportation challenging,” said Sheriff of the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office Brian Hawthorne. “Polaris RANGER recognized the need for support and stepped in to help us as we provide relief for our citizens and work to recover our community.”
“The volume and level of destruction we are seeing from these powerful storms is staggering,” said Polaris Vice President of Marketing Off-Road Vehicles Kyle Duea. “Texas has been extremely hard hit in recent years, and as an organization, we are committed to supporting recovery efforts with our highly-capable utility vehicles.”
Polaris Inc. has a long history of supporting disaster relief efforts through work with organizations, such as Team Rubicon, and through its ongoing partnership with The Salvation Army and the Polaris Rescue and Relief Fleet.
