Chicken Corners: 10 Feet Of Fear

May 2015 Powersport News, Travel

We got the chance to hang out with the guys from Starting Line Products today as they guided a Rally on the Rocks ride out to Chicken Corners.

Chicken Corners is about the easiest trail to navigate of all the trails around Moab, UT. But there is a foot path at the end of the side-by-side trail that has what we call 10 feet of fear. This 10 feet of fear is along an old hiking trail which goes around the sharp Goose Neck bend where it narrows to about one person width with a sheer rock wall on one side and a 400 or so foot drop down to the Colorado River on the other side. The story is that if someone wouldn’t walk that of the trail, they were chicken. That 10 feet of fear comes by its name honestly.

But if you do dare to venture through that stretch—literally only about 10 feet of fear—the views around the bend are breath taking.

The trail climbs Hurrah Pass, where, at the top, you get to see awesome views of the Colorado River Gorge. The trail also skirts very scenic rim and canyons.

We had lunch at the Catacombs, a unique rock formation with all sorts of crevices.

So what the Chicken Corners trail lacks in technical sections/obstacles more than makes up for it with awesome scenery.
