Lake Elsinore, Calif. – On June 26-27, the Terracross Championship Series started at the Del Mar Fairgrounds for Rounds 1 and 2 of a six race series for 2015. Sara Price, driving the IMG Motorsports, Optimas Powersports, ITP Wheels and Tires-backed 1000cc side-by-side, swept the Pro Women’s class both days of finals and heats, leaving her with the win and as the current Terracross points leader.
Price, driving flawlessly, said, “I was so excited to get the opportunity to race on such a tight track, with all cars being stock and identical it made for some fun racing. It was slick with big jumps, so the key was to stay smooth and keep your traction.”
Rounds 1 and 2 of the Terracross will air on CBS Sports Network (Round 1: Sunday, July 19 at 6 p.m. EST; Round 2: Sunday July 26 at 6 p.m. EST). Rounds 3 and 4 will be held at Hay Days in North Branch, MN, on Sept. 12-13, followed by Charlotte Motor Speedway for Rounds 5 and 6 on Sept. 25-26.
Racing in back-to-back events, Price raced June 28-29 at Glen Helen Raceway for Rounds 4 and 5 of the Lucas Oil Regional Series. Price, driving her Toyota of Escondido, IMG Motorsports, ITP Wheels and Tires-backed 900cc side-by-side was ready to race to the top spot once again. On Saturday (Round 4), Price qualified third, leaving her to start on the second row for the main. She drove a very solid race, but while battling for second place on the last lap was hindered by her car overheating and going into limp mode. But Price aided her car the best she could to the checkered flag, still finishing third on the podium.
In Sunday’s Round 5, Price had her car fixed and felt great when she hit the track, qualifying second, leaving her to start the main on the pole. Price battled for the top spot and was back and forth from first to third all the way to the last corner doing all she could to get the No. 1 spot, but ended second.
“It was an awesome race all the way to the checkered,” said Price. “I was pushing as hard as I could, focusing on keeping my momentum. This is the kind of racing I absolutely love when you’re dicing to the very last foot to the finish.”
Price now sits third in the 900cc class in Lucas Oil Regionals.
