With an award-winning design and premium specifications, the 50-inch wide Wildcat Trail family continues to set the industry standard in handling, power-to-weight, suspension travel and pricing. For 2016 the Wildcat Trail and Wildcat Trail XT EPS are joined by the all-new Wildcat Trail Special Edition EPS and Wildcat Trail LE EPS in this popular category.
Modern technology brings you more horsepower, less weight, improved efficiency and long-lasting durability. The Arctic Cat-designed 700 parallel-twin features EFI, 4-valves per cylinder and liquid cooling. This 60-plus horsepower engine was designed specifically for the Wildcat Trail chassis and the engine feeds into the TEAM Rapid Response clutches and electronic selectable 2WD/4WD with front differential lock. With 60-plus hp, the Wildcat Trail takes a backseat to nobody.
The Wildcat Trail chassis features a 40/60-percent front/rear weight distribution for optimal handling at high speed. The driver and passenger are located 3 inches lower than the competition so you are seated near the low center of gravity, leaving occupants less affected by the movements of the vehicle, inspiring greater confidence and control.
With industry-leading 10/10.5 inches of front/rear suspension travel and 10 inches of ground clearance, all Wildcat Trail models are built to deftly navigate trail obstacles. The front and rear double A-arm suspensions have a swaybar that keeps the tires planted while the suspension moves through its travel for unmatched traction and control. Premium Fox nitrogen gas-charged shocks smooth the ride.
Other comfort-and-control features include high back bucket seats with upper body supports, tilt steering, center console sport shifter, digital gauge, rear LED taillights, passenger handhold and 3-point seat belts; plus easy-access hinged doors with industry-leading automotive style handles/latches to compliment the exterior lines.
A 300-lb. payload in the rear cargo bed is large enough to carry a cooler and a Gerry can of gas, while the rear 2-inch receiver and 4-ply Carlisle Trail Pro tires were designed exclusively for the Wildcat Trail.
The base-level Wildcat Trail comes with 12-in. steel wheels and half doors and is available in Lime Green or Classic Red.
The Wildcat Trail XT EPS adds the steering ease of electronic power steering (EPS); machined cast-aluminum 12-inch wheels; color-matched suspension arms; and automotive-style paint in Team Arctic Green or Vibrant Red to complete the package.
The new-for-2016 Wildcat Trail Special Edition EPS includes the upgraded features found on XT EPS, plus comes with full doors; color-matched orange aluminum wheels; and a dash-mounted numbered plaque that highlights its limited availability. It’s available in True Timber Camo or Orange Metallic.

2016 Arctic Cat Wildcat Technology
700 Engine (Trail/Sport)
Developed by Arctic Cat, the twin-cylinder 700cc DOHC engine incorporates key features and technology for powering Arctic Cat machines, including a closed-loop EFI system for quick throttle response and improved fuel economy; automatic idle speed actuator; a cam sensor for quick synchronization during startup; two-stage thermostat for rapid engine warm-up; hydraulic cam chain tensioner; a high strength, one-piece forged crankshaft; a single balance shaft and low inertia rare earth flywheel for reduced rotating mass and quick response; and a wet sump oiling system. It produces 60-plus horsepower at 7,500 rpm. It’s liquid-cooled with an auxiliary fan for consistent performance in all conditions.
High/Low/Reverse/Park with electronic 2wd/4wd Differential Lock
The rugged transaxle system on the drivetrain features High range, Low range, Reverse and Park. Electronically selectable on-the-fly 2- and 4-wheel-drive is bolstered by selectable 4wd differential locking to achieve the desired traction and drive control in varying conditions.
Variable Assist Electronic Power Steering (EPS)
Arctic Cat’s Variable Assist EPS provides varying electronic steering assist depending upon conditions, effort and speed. An Electronic Control Unit measures steering input force in relation to vehicle speed and tire resistance in order to provide the appropriate assist to the steering column via an electronic brushless motor. The varying levels of assist translate into a light steering input effort, especially when in 4WD with a locked differential, but with optimal feedback so that the rider senses the tire contact with the terrain.
TEAM Rapid Response and Rapid Reaction Clutches
TEAM Rapid Response drive and Rapid Reaction driven clutches are renowned for their performance and durability. The drive clutch features extra-durable towers, spider and roller bearings for consistent performance. It functions in combination with the lightweight aluminum driven clutch for maximum power transfer, instant response to varying loads with minimal friction and wear.
Fox Gas Shocks (Wildcat Trail)
Nitrogen-charged Fox gas shocks on the front and rear suspensions deliver fade-free performance and spring preload adjustability. They’re calibrated for comfort and control in a variety of conditions.
Four-Wheel Hydraulic Disc Brakes (Trail & Sport Models)
Single-piston caliper hydraulic disc brakes on each wheel deliver enhanced braking performance and feel, effectively controlling all four wheels during deceleration.
Double A-arm Suspensions (Wildcat Trail)
Arctic Cat’s Double A-arm front and rear suspension package delivers premium comfort and control in a full-range of terrain conditions via optimized geometry and 10 inches of front and 10.5 inches of rear travel. Front and rear swaybars enhance positive cornering.
Easy Hinge Doors
Large, automotive-style door hinges ease entry/exit from the vehicle for a full range of hand sizes. They’re located on the outside of each door, where they’re easily reached for the driver and passenger, and are recessed to prevent entanglement with brush.
Infinitely Adjustable Steering Wheel
A lever-activated adjustment option provides an infinite number of wheel positions within a 7.5-in. range, allowing drivers to customize their comfort based on size and conditions.
