This week Arctic Cat unwrapped several new mid-season ATV and side-by-side models. We’ll take a few at a time over the next few days. Today we’ll look at the company’s youth ATV, the Alterra 90.
The all-new 2016 Alterra 90 offers the highest quality youth machine that now sports the same premium styling cues as Arctic Cat’s adult-sized Alterra models.
The Alterra 90 is built for Y-12 users (youth 12 years and older) compliant to stringent CPSC/SVIA standards, with features that include full floorboards, padded handlebars, removable keys, standard rear brake lights and an orange whip safety flag. Also, composite front/rear racks with full steel structure and 10-lb./15-lb. capacities are standard.
It’s powered by a 90cc, SOHC, 2-valve, four-stroke engine with a Duramatic Automatic transmission, automatic choke and a 15 mph speed governor, making it capable of powering youth and adults with an energetic, playful spirit.
Rugged independent single A-arm front and rear swing-arm suspensions offer nearly three inches of travel and 7.25 inches of ground clearance, with hand-operated front and rear brakes to keep them controlled.
