Participation in the June 9-12 UTV Rally in Wells, NV, is limited to the first 100 paid registrants, so don’t wait any longer to claim your spot.
For $125 per person, the registration includes the rides, dinner each night at City Park, an event t-shirt, a keg, the awards banquet and steak dinner and access to door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. The routes are available with GPS (Garmin Mapsource) downloads, so bring cables to access those. Side-by-sides and ATVs are encouraged and all are welcome.
Most of the routes for the event are set, but not all have been pre-ridden yet due to the snow and mud.
Rides start Thursday at 10 a.m. and the dinners start that night and will be provided on Friday and Saturday. The volunteer cooks are Jolene Supp, city manager and Yvonne Stuart, director of the chamber of commerce. The dinners and post-dinner gatherings that take place under the gazebo in City Park help set this rally apart from the others. They’re great socializing opportunities to meet new people and form friendships based on shared interests. This rally is known for the smaller group rides, variety of routes and a camaraderie that is uncommon at some of the bigger events.
The registration payment goes towards funding the business license fees, event liability insurance, event applications, providing the meals and t-shirts, printing costs associated with promoting the event and many other things.
Organizers say that in the last 15 years they probably haven’t broken even. In some of the past years, after everything was over and paid, they have written a personal check to cover the remaining costs. If there’s money leftover, it goes towards the next year’s event.
In Nevada, UTVs are allowed on some state roads, but not on U.S. highways. It is recommended that all occupants of UTVs wear helmets and utilize seatbelts. All parties or groups are also recommended to be equipped with cell phones, at least one SPOT satellite receiver and/or a cell phone. Participants will be given all applicable emergency contact numbers and there will be ride leaders with handheld radios and, in most cases, CB radios.
Nevada is different than many areas because it is mostly a federal lands state. The lack of private land allows greater access to the outdoors. As such, this is a BLM-permitted event. Organizers ask that participants please respect the public lands and leave little or no sign behind. If you can pack it in, you can pack it out. In addition, please leave any gates the way they are found. Also, because it is BLM-permitted, there may be personal looking for spark arrestors.
Rally organizers encourage everyone to “come and learn some new routes and make some new friends.”
