The Idaho Powersports Show, which ran at Expo Idaho from 2013-15, returns. This show pulled a ton of people (around 10,000) its first year because it was new and sexy and interesting.
But it flattened out in year two and declined in year three. And this made sense. By the third year people started asking, "Why should I pay to go to a show to look at powersports stuff when I can look at it for free at my dealership?"
This was a logical question. The show needed a hook and organizers have now given it one. Idaho's first-ever supermoto event will run right in the middle of the show and it will be an AMA National, with some famous Pro racers showing up to race. The racetrack, a combination of pavement and dirt, will run right behind the Expo building, meaning that people have to walk right through the show to get to the race.
Also, race organizers have done a complete, total reset on the legendary Big Nasty Hillclimb, which grew every year from 2001 to 2012 when it pulled 13,200 attendees. Attendance has declined over the last few years. The event has been renamed the Idaho Nitro National Hillclimb. Organizers have also moved the date one week earlier to get better weather and miss several big RV shows that have been hitting during the event’s mid-September date. The Idaho Nitro National remains Idaho's only hillclimb but it is now a full-on family-oriented show and is scheduled for Sept. 7-9.
