Elka Suspension has announced the release of the new Sand Edition shock platform specifically designed for select high-performance UTVs.
This new product is available now for the 2015-20 Polaris RZR 1000 XP 4/XP 4 Turbo and 2016-20 Can-Am Maverick X3 X-RS. Available configurations are 2.5-inch piggyback front shocks combined with 3.0-inch rear shocks with remote reservoirs.
“We developed this new Sand Edition platform as an affordable alternative for recreational sand riding,” Patrick Tellier, Director of Marketing at Elka Suspension, said. “The result is a super plush suspension that erases sand ripples and vibration while providing greater hydraulic resistance to body roll and squatting while transitioning between dunes. They also provide exceptional comfort for desert riding and offer strong bottoming-out resistance. We strongly believe there's no better value for the money for sand riding."
Derived from Elka's well proven Stage 5 platform, these shocks are specifically tuned to meet the special needs of recreational riding in the dunes or desert. Their simple design and limited external adjustment allow Elka to offer them at aggressive pricing, making them a great upgrade to inject new life into an older machine. They feature adjustable crossover rings that allow precise setting of the transition from the dual-rate springs to the main spring, allowing fine-tuning of the plush initial portion of the wheel travel vs. a firmer spring platform deeper in the travel to prevent bottoming-out.
Other technical features include low-friction Teflon-coated body (PTFE), a sturdy induction-hardened 7/8-inch (22mm) steel shaft and durable hard-anodized billet machined aluminum components. Internal seals and wear-bands are huge and heavy-duty to ensure fade-free consistent performance.
