Moab, UT -The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Utah Canyon Country District Office invites the public to review and comment on an Environmental Assessment (EA) analyzing the potential impacts of issuing a one-year Special Recreation Permit (SRP) for an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Safari in San Juan County.
The EA analyzes a proposal by the City of Monticello, UT, to host and conduct guided ATV tours on 15 designated routes in areas throughout the Moab and Monticello Field Offices. No cross-country travel would be allowed and the proposed event routes are already designated in the travel management plans for the Moab and Monticello Field Offices. Four routes are located in the Moab Field Office, and 11 routes are located in the Monticello Field Office. The event would provide guided tours for ATVs, UTVs and motorcycles over a three-day period in September. Guides would provide orientation sessions on safety, trail terrain, riding tips and the Tread Lightly Leave No Trace program.

Written comments will be accepted by letter or email until September 9, 2013. Please note that the most useful comments are those that contain new technical or scientific information relevant to the proposed action. Comments should be as specific as possible. Comments which contain only opinions or preferences will not receive a formal response but may be considered in the BLM decision-making process.
