If you venture out in the backcountry on your UTVs, you know that sometimes the terrain can get pretty rugged and at times you just have to bull your way through the brush to get to where you want to go. As side-by-sides gain popularity they are beginning to be used in more and more areas. One of those areas happens to be public roadways. The only dilemma with that is these toys don’t come equipped with proper safety equipment like the cars and trucks that dominate the roadways.
Neil Ternet of DUX Turn Signals has a fix for that. He has brought to market an easy-to-install, almost factory-looking turn signal kit for ATVs and side-by-sides. He started the company by making a few kits for his own toys, then that turned into some kits for some friends on the trails and the rest is history.
We recently installed one of the kits on our 2017 Polaris RZR 4 900 and couldn’t be happier with the results. It turned our dirt slayer RZR into the ultimate grocery getter.
The kit comes ready to go with a pre-assembled wire harness, connectors, turn signal and horn buttons to mount on the steering column, and all the required zip ties and little odds and ends. As for the install, plan on spending more than few hours on it. It can be a little intimidating as you’ll be cutting and splicing into some very important factory hardware. The supplied directions don’t come with any photos, but are written well and are easy to follow.
The kit comes with six lights up front and converts your rear taillights into turn signals which make for a super clean look. The supplied horn is plenty loud to scare off any surprise visits at the cross walks or even out on the trails with wildlife.
In summary, we are very happy with the results of the Dux Turn Signal Kit and are glad to be using real turn signals at the stop signs rather than the old fashioned hand signal out the window that you are just hoping a car actually sees. We’re sure the local police are glad wehave turn signals now as well. DT
