On day two of our Louisiana adventure with the new Polaris Ranger XP 1000 at Honey Brake Lodge (www.honeybrake.com/) we got to experience a few more of the features and feel the horsepower as we roamed the central Louisiana countryside.
Instead of duck hunting, today’s adventure was watching the guides and staff from Honey Brake Lodge go alligator hunting. That was a new experience for us and definitely unique. We also rode for miles and miles on the ranch roads as well as on roads on top of levees that dominate the landscape in central Louisiana.
Today we focused mostly on the base model of the Ranger XP 1000 because we wanted to get a feel for how the vehicle does without all the accessories that many of the vehicles were sporting during our two days near Jonesville, LA. We’ll admit that driving the Ranger XP 1000 with a full cab and air conditioning (it was about 88-90 degrees F with 60 ish percent humidity) was nice the day before.
The base models, which boasts an increase in horsepower (from 80 to 82 hp), come with new tires (one inch bigger), bigger cargo box (one inch deeper) and increased in-cab storage, were in their element on the Honey Brake property.
There was nothing overly taxing on the Ranger XP 1000—it handled all we could find to throw at it.
