Kawasaki added another Mule to its stable of Mules this summer with the addition of the Mule Pro-MX, a midsize side-by-side that mixes work with play.
We got to ride the Mule Pro-MX on the ranch roads and hills at the Ancient PeaksWinery (https://ancientpeaks.com) in central California and came away impressed with the capabilities of the midsize Mule.
It’s a work mule for sure, but also has the capability to play when the work is over. This Mule is powered by a fuel-injected 695cc single-cylinder engine which is pretty smooth and torquey. We’ve always liked Kawasaki’s Electronic Power Steering (EPS) and like many of the amenities/features that come stock on the Mule Pro-MX. This vehicle offers a shorter and narrower wheelbase but it was plenty stable on the ranch roads and narrow trails traversing the hills above the winery.
The Mule Pro-MX also features high-quality pickup truck-styled bodywork, easy-to-read automotive style dashboards, bright quadruple headlamps, great doors, a really good contoured bench seat and solid Shinari-tuned frame.
Convenient storage options are another key feature of Mule Pro-MX. A 2.4-gallon storage compartment is located under the front hood; an additional 1.4-gallon storage compartment was built in beneath the passenger seat. A lockable passenger side glove box for small items was integrated into the dash, along with two cup holders, dashboard pockets and a tray for quick and easy storage of small items.
The Mule Pro-MX is available in several different models and color ways. The Mule Pro-MX EPS edition comes in a Timberline Green or Bright White finish and also features EPS, adjustable tilt steering, steel wheels, halogen headlamps, and two LED auxiliary headlamps complementing two halogen headlamps. MSRP: $11,999
The Mule Pro-MX EPS Camo edition comes in a TrueTimber HTC Green and also features EPS, adjustable tilt steering, steel wheels, halogen headlamps, and two LED auxiliary headlamps complementing two halogen headlamps, and plastic roof. MSRP: $12,649
The Mule Pro-MX EPS LE edition comes in Firecracker Red and also features EPS, adjustable tilt steering, stylish aluminum wheels, halogen headlamps, plastic roof, and two LED auxiliary headlamps complementing two halogen headlamps. MSRP: $12,499
