KYMCO Prime Is Prime For Riding

Published in the June 2018 Issue June 2018 Feature Lane Lindstrom

It’s been a while since we’ve heard much out of the KYMCO camp. We know the company has been making small, subtle changes to its dirt powersports lineup but were a little surprised when we heard about the UXV 700i LE Prime Edition.

You would expect a Limited Edition to come with some additional bells and whistles but what was nice about the Prime Edition is that the new-for-2018 features aren’t all cosmetic; there are a few that improve the ride of the side-by-side.

We spent three days riding the Prime Edition on the trails around Moab, UT, and no, we definitely didn’t baby it. We took on obstacle after obstacle on Fins & Things, Hell’s Revenge, Poison Spider, Golden Spike, Gold Bar Rim and Behind the Rocks.

Anyone who regularly rides the Moab-area trails knows attacking the obstacles isn’t always about horsepower but also about bottom-end grunt and torque, which is what allows the KYMCO to play well on the rocks.

What are the differences between the UXV 700i Limited Edition Prime Edition and the base-model UXV 700i besides the $2,000 price tag ($8,999 UXV 700i vs. $10,999 UXV 700i LE Prime Edition)?

Plenty.

For starters there’s electronic power steering (EPS), which makes a world of difference when riding in places like Moab where the vehicle is buffeted by rocks and off-camber terrain all the time.

Next are four exclusive Prime Edition upgrades:

  • Black Aluminum Sport Alloy 14-inch wheels with 26-inch tires
  • Factory 3,000-lb. winch
  • Factory hard top
  • Factory windshield
